He feels like they are the family he lost with his brother and his parents’ indifference towards him. Kaito only truly feels safe around his little group of friends, especially Morgana, Futaba, Ryuji, Ann and Yusuke. While Futaba was his childhood friend, Ryuji is his first real best friend. Kaito is known for not being able to read the situation and always asking the girls awkward questions while wondering why the guys don’t feel like talking about some things with him. He sometimes uses some Persona of the other major Arcana if they tickle his curiousity. His favorite Persona to use in battle are usually of the Moon, Fortune, Magician and Lovers Arcana. Kaito is arrogant and sometimes selfish, just to cover his uncertain and shy side. He wishes he could be more like ‘Joker’ outside of the Palace. He feels more comfortable as Joker, the handsome and charming phantom thief that all the girls (and some guys) adore and swoon over, then as his awkward and gangly ‘casual’ self. The scars of the bite can still be faintly seen on his wrist. Kaito had an unfortunate accident during his childhood when a dog bit his wrist (which was just before his brother’s passing). He dislikes movies (most of them anyways), violence, cruelty, puzzles and dogs. Kaito likes cats, pizza, video games and manga/books. He tells her everything and anything and she knows some secrets that even Ryuji and Futaba don’t know about, such as him being unable to decide if he likes Ann or Yusuke more. Morgana is his personal diary in the shape of a cat. Kaito also gets along well Ann (on whom he has a tiny crush) and Yusuke (on whom he is crushing a bit too), he adores Morgana and takes her everywhere with him, he enjoys talking to Makoto and Haru for a more mature look on things, he loves hanging out and playing video games/reading manga with Futaba and is somewhat cold towards Goro.
The blonde teen knows of Kaito’s disorder and doesn’t mind if he is sometimes harsh when around him. He became best friends with Ryuji when the other struck up a conversation with him during gym class. Futaba Sakura was one of his few friends that he kept from childhood to his teenage years now. The truth never came to light as the woman was too scared to speak up about the event. The culmination of that was when, in their eyes, he attacked an innocent man so they send him off to live with their friend Sojiro Sakura, who knows of Kaito’s condition. Following his brother’s death, their parents became more strict towards him: from grounding him for months for not doing his homework to not giving him the medication needed to keep his disorder somewhat calm. Kaito barely survived the crash and has a scar on his stomach to prove it. He had an older brother (who liked men and came out to the family) but he died in a car crash that Kaito saw (having been in the car with him at the time). Children his age simply didn’t know to which side of Kaito they were speaking to at the moment: his kind and gentle side or his teasing and prank-loving side. Growing up, he barely had any friends due to his disorder. Thus, his mask as Joker somewhat improves his vision for battles.
He can barely see beyond his own finger without his glasses on.
